Vaccines

Curious what people are getting? (besides the cheap ones like typhoid)

I was recommended rabies and japanese encephalitis by my doc....they cost $400 each!!!!
Also, are people taking malaria prophylaxis?

I was born in India and lived there for a large part of my life. If China is anything like India, no amount of vaccination could keep one from getting sick. The most important thing is to be extremely selective about food and water. It takes about a week for our immune system to catch up with the unique bugs there and then it is a smoother ride.

That said, my international health department has also recommended the same vaccines that Stephanie mentioned. It might also help to carry Immodium or your choice of diarrhea medicine. Some people carry Cipro although I think it would be easily available there.
